| Additional information

Now that you have read the introduction...

...please read this page, too – preferably before you book, but certainly before you arrive.

Suitability
Fitness & Mobility
Although all our tours involve much getting into and out of the minibus, it is then up to you how much walking you do, in each of the gardens – and you can always sit and read a book, you are on holiday! However, if you have any doubts as to the suitability of a specific tour, or whether, or not, your own fitness and mobility may impair you, then please contact us before booking.

Clearly, our walking tours require that you are fit enough to participate in the tour.
Age Limits
Our tours are not suitable for young people, under the age of 16, though there is no upper age limit.

The prices quoted are per person, sharing a twin or double room, and the prices are quoted in the following currencies:

Single Person Supplement
We charge a supplement for single people travelling with us. This supplement largely covers the additional charges, levied on us by hotels and B&Bs, designed to compensate for the use of a double or twin room by one person; and this supplement varies from one establishment to another. We have now refined our policy and aligned the supplement to that charged by each establishment.

You will find the single person supplement, for each tour, at the end of that tour itinerary.
Accommodation
Bedrooms
Bedrooms vary in size from establishment to establishment, and what may be considered 'large' in a small B&B may be considered 'small' in a hotel – it is all relative. Rooms will be en suite* – though this may be with a bath, or a shower, or a bath with a shower.

*Very occasionally a room may have a private bathroom – that is to say, your own bathroom, but not en suite – but you will told about this when you book .

Double and Twin Rooms
In Britain we say ‘double-room’ to mean a room with one bed for two people, and ‘twin-room’ to mean a room with two single beds. Please bear this in mind when booking!

Room Allocation
We allocate rooms on a first-come-first-served basis, so if the nature of your room is material to your booking, please contact us before booking.
What to Bring – What to Wear
On all the tours there is a fair amount of walking, so a pair of strong, comfortable shoes is the first thing to pack – and bear in mind, too, that it may be wet underfoot. Next, a lightweight, wind and waterproof coat or jacket because it is most likely to rain but, otherwise, plenty of comfortable casual clothes.

Dinner
At dinner, although we don't dine anywhere so smart as to require a dress or 'jacket and tie', many of the establishments at which we dine – including hotel dining rooms, where we are staying – are fairly smart. As a general 'rule of thumb' pubs are more casual than restaurants and hotel dining rooms.

Tours with Walking
There are specific requirements for tours with walking, and these requirements may be found at the end of the tour itinerary.
Joining the Tour
If you are travelling on the tour dates, we will meet you at the airport, or other agreed meeting place, and return you to the same place, at the end of the tour. The exact arrangements will be confirmed to you by email, a few days before the tour.

Please see the end of each of the tour itineraries for more specific information, on that tour.
Travelling Outside the Tour Datesread also the Travel Information Page
If you are intending to arrive into Britain before the tour start date, or stay on in Britain after the end of the tour or, indeed, if you are joing a tour as a part of a longer visit to Britain, please read on.

Flights outside Tour Dates – Additional Costs
If we book flights for you, for dates other than on the tour start and end dates, and the cost of these flights is more expensive (than for those on the tour start and end dates) we will charge you the difference in price. Additionally, we may make a reasonable administrative charge.

Joining the Tour
Generally speaking, tours get underway by late morning. However, there are exceptions to this and we ask that you contact us before you book, to make arrangements as to where, and when, to meet.

Again, please see the end of each of the tour itineraries for more specific information, on that tour.

Travel Assistance
Where we can, we will assist you with your travel arrangements within Britain, outside the tour dates, but please remember that we are not travel agents, and we may make a reasonable administrative charge for doing so.
